IGCOMPRESSOR is made by George, an independent web and mobile developer. It started in 2024 as a personal fix for a personal annoyance: photos that looked sharp in Lightroom turned soft the moment they hit Instagram. After enough experiments with export sizes, sharpening order and file sizes, the settings that survived Instagram best became a small tool, and the tool became this site.
What it is
A browser-based image compressor with presets for Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube thumbnails, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, Threads and Telegram, plus an exact-size mode for forms that want 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB, and a custom mode for everything else. The pipeline is documented on the how it works page.
What it will never do
Your photos are processed inside your browser and never uploaded. There is no server that could store them, sell them or train on them, because there is no server in the loop at all. This is a design decision, not a policy that could change with a settings toggle. The exported files also carry no metadata, so your location and camera details stay with you.
How it is funded
Ads. A small number of them, placed by Google, on the content around the tool. There are no paid tiers, no accounts and no upsells. If the site ever needs more than that, it will say so plainly.
Accuracy
The platform numbers on this site (Instagram's 1080 px rule, WhatsApp's 1600 px scaling, the 2 MB YouTube thumbnail limit, exam form sizes) are checked against official help pages and current notifications, with the check date shown on each guide. Platforms change things without notice. If you find a number that is out of date, tell me and it gets fixed.
