What fits in 10 KB

Ten kilobytes is tiny. A photo can't keep much detail at this size, so the tool reduces the pixels until the file fits, then picks the highest JPEG quality that still lands under 10 KB. Line art such as a signature scanned on white paper compresses far better than a photo: crop tightly around the ink, and it will usually fit at a decent resolution.

At 10 KB you can expect about 200 to 350 px on the long side for a photo, or a clean 300×100 px signature. The exact number depends on how much fine detail the image has: skies and plain walls compress well, foliage and fabric don't.

Tip: If a form asks for a signature between 10 and 20 KB, use the Min (KB) field under More options so the file is padded up to the minimum as well.

How the 10 KB compressor works

  1. Drop or paste the image. Nothing is uploaded; the work happens in your browser, even offline.
  2. The tool encodes the image as JPEG at several quality levels and keeps the one that lands just under 10 KB.
  3. If even the lowest acceptable quality is too big, it reduces the pixels a little and tries again, so the result is the largest image that fits.
  4. Download the file, or share it straight into WhatsApp or the form on a phone.

Every result shows the final size and pixel dimensions before you download. Need a fixed pixel size too? Set Resize to Exact size (crop) and type the width and height.

Who needs exactly this size

This limit is common for signatures on exam forms, tiny avatars and email logos. If the portal also lists a minimum size (for example "20 KB to 50 KB"), open More options and fill in Min (KB): the tool pads the JPEG so it is never rejected for being too small, without touching the pixels.

Questions people ask

Can a photo really be 10 KB?

Yes, at roughly 250 to 350 px on the long side. It will look fine as a thumbnail but not full screen. For signatures and simple graphics the resolution can be higher.

The result is 4 KB but my form wants at least 10 KB. What now?

Open More options and set Min (KB) to 10. The tool pads the JPEG with harmless metadata so it passes the minimum check.

Is compressing to 10 KB free and private?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no upload. The image is processed on your device with the browser's own image engine, and the page keeps working with the internet switched off.

Which formats can I compress?

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (in Safari) and most camera RAW files. The output is JPG by default; you can choose WebP or PNG under More options.
