What fits in 30 KB

Thirty kilobytes sits between the two most common form limits. Several state public service commissions and scholarship portals use it. At this size a head-and-shoulders photo around 400 px tall still looks clean, and a signature keeps every stroke.

At 30 KB you can expect around 400 to 550 px for a photo. The exact number depends on how much fine detail the image has: skies and plain walls compress well, foliage and fabric don't.

Tip: Crop before compressing. A tight crop around the face keeps more detail than shrinking a wide photo.

How the 30 KB compressor works

  1. Drop or paste the image. Nothing is uploaded; the work happens in your browser, even offline.
  2. The tool encodes the image as JPEG at several quality levels and keeps the one that lands just under 30 KB.
  3. If even the lowest acceptable quality is too big, it reduces the pixels a little and tries again, so the result is the largest image that fits.
  4. Download the file, or share it straight into WhatsApp or the form on a phone.

Every result shows the final size and pixel dimensions before you download. Need a fixed pixel size too? Set Resize to Exact size (crop) and type the width and height.

Who needs exactly this size

This limit is common for state PSC portals with a 30 KB cap, scholarship forms and ID cards. If the portal also lists a minimum size (for example "20 KB to 50 KB"), open More options and fill in Min (KB): the tool pads the JPEG so it is never rejected for being too small, without touching the pixels.

Questions people ask

Will a 30 KB photo look pixelated?

Not at the sizes forms display. It is viewed at a few centimetres on screen or printed as a passport photo, and 400 px is plenty for that.

Can I compress a PNG to 30 KB?

Yes, but PNG can't be compressed by lowering quality, so the tool reduces the pixels instead. If the form accepts JPEG, choose JPG in More options for a much sharper result at the same size.

Is compressing to 30 KB free and private?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no upload. The image is processed on your device with the browser's own image engine, and the page keeps working with the internet switched off.

Which formats can I compress?

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (in Safari) and most camera RAW files. The output is JPG by default; you can choose WebP or PNG under More options.
