KB, MB and what actually changes

A kilobyte is 1024 bytes and a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes. When a form says "maximum 100 KB", it means the file on disk, not the pixel size. Two things control that number: how many pixels the image has, and how hard the JPEG encoder squeezes them (the quality setting).

This tool changes quality first, because it is invisible at normal viewing sizes, and pixels second, because that is what makes an image look small. It shows both numbers before you download.

Photo resizer in KB for forms

Government and exam portals usually give three numbers: a pixel size (for example 200×230), a minimum file size and a maximum. Enter all three here: pick Exact size (crop) and type the pixels, type the maximum in the size box, and set Min (KB) under More options. The result satisfies all three and the page shows it in green.

Questions people ask

How do I reduce a photo to a specific KB?

Type the limit in the size box, drop the photo, and download. The tool re-encodes the image to land just under your number.

Can I set both a minimum and a maximum size?

Yes. The size box is the maximum; Min (KB) under More options is the minimum. The exported file lands between the two.

Does reducing KB reduce quality?

Slightly, and mostly invisibly at normal size. The tool always picks the highest quality that fits, so you never lose more than the limit forces.

Can I convert MB to KB for an image?

That is what this tool does: a 4 MB photo becomes a 100 KB photo, for example. Type the target in KB and drop the file.
