What fits in 100 KB

A 100 KB JPEG at 1000 px wide is the sweet spot for the web: it loads instantly, looks sharp on a phone, and passes almost every upload limit. Most photos from a phone camera drop from 3 to 5 MB to under 100 KB with no visible change at normal viewing size. If your original is small already, the tool just re-encodes it at the best quality that fits.

At 100 KB you can expect about 900 to 1100 px on the long side, which is enough for most screens. The exact number depends on how much fine detail the image has: skies and plain walls compress well, foliage and fabric don't.

Tip: For a website, switch the format to WebP under More options. WebP fits about 30% more detail into the same 100 KB.

How the 100 KB compressor works

  1. Drop or paste the image. Nothing is uploaded; the work happens in your browser, even offline.
  2. The tool encodes the image as JPEG at several quality levels and keeps the one that lands just under 100 KB.
  3. If even the lowest acceptable quality is too big, it reduces the pixels a little and tries again, so the result is the largest image that fits.
  4. Download the file, or share it straight into WhatsApp or the form on a phone.

Every result shows the final size and pixel dimensions before you download. Need a fixed pixel size too? Set Resize to Exact size (crop) and type the width and height.

Who needs exactly this size

This limit is common for university and job portals, product listings, email attachments and website thumbnails. If the portal also lists a minimum size (for example "20 KB to 50 KB"), open More options and fill in Min (KB): the tool pads the JPEG so it is never rejected for being too small, without touching the pixels.

Questions people ask

How do I reduce an image to 100 KB?

Drop the image, keep the 100 KB cap, and download. The tool first tries lowering the JPEG quality; if the pixels are too big for that, it scales them down just enough.

Will 100 KB be good enough for a website?

Yes. A 1000 px wide JPEG around 100 KB is what most fast websites use for content images. Use the WebP option for even smaller files.

Can I compress many images to 100 KB at once?

Yes, up to 50 at a time. Every one is capped at 100 KB and you can download them as a ZIP.

Is compressing to 100 KB free and private?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no upload. The image is processed on your device with the browser's own image engine, and the page keeps working with the internet switched off.

Which formats can I compress?

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC (in Safari) and most camera RAW files. The output is JPG by default; you can choose WebP or PNG under More options.
