Make square exports from a batch of photographs

Square exports can suit product grids, album tiles and a set of social photographs. This preset produces a 1080 by 1080 example using Exact size. It is a workflow choice, not a requirement for every platform. Check the destination's actual display and upload rules before deciding that one square file will serve all uses.

An exact square crop removes content when the source is a different shape. A wide group portrait may lose people at the sides; a tall product image may lose the top or bottom. If the full frame matters, use Fit image without cropping instead. That preserves proportions but does not make every output a square. This tool does not add padding, borders or a matching background to force an uncropped rectangle into a square canvas.

Add a small sample and select each thumbnail to inspect the preview. Move the crop when the source shape leaves room to reposition it. Use the crop control or preview interaction to keep a face, object or other important feature in view. A centered starting position is convenient, but it cannot understand the subject or guarantee a sensible composition.

The batch shares dimensions, format and sharpening, while crop positions can be checked individually. Inspect product handles, long hair, feet, labels and other content near the new boundaries. Leave useful space around a subject if the destination later displays the square inside a circle or another crop. If no position preserves the necessary content, choose a different source or a different output shape. Do not accept a damaged composition merely for visual uniformity across the set.

The output starts as JPEG at 90% quality with Light sharpening. Exact size can enlarge a smaller source to reach the selected dimensions, but it cannot create the detail of a larger original. Check small images carefully rather than assuming the 1080-pixel label guarantees a clear result. For a transparent graphic, switch to PNG and consider turning sharpening off; JPEG output uses a white background.

Compare texture and edges at the intended display size, then download a sample. If the destination has a byte limit, add it only after checking the composition and inspect any resulting quality or dimension changes. A batch can include up to 50 inputs, each within the existing 80 MB limit, but device memory still affects comfortable group size. Open the downloaded ZIP and confirm the separate square exports are the intended files. The workflow does not join them into a collage or publish them to an account.

A wide group photo and a tall bottle make useful early tests. Move their crops and decide whether the necessary people or product ends can remain inside the square. If they cannot, separate those images before processing the rest of the set. A square preview that hides a handle or crops a face is a composition failure, regardless of its file size. For a catalog, check the resulting files side by side at the real card size and look for inconsistent subject scale. This tool does not automatically normalize how large each object appears within the frame.
