Prepare artwork for a Facebook event cover

Start with a wide event design and keep the essential message central. Our event-cover preset exports a 1920×1005 JPEG for you to review in the actual event editor.

Use a source with at least 1920×1005 pixels in the retained crop. Smaller sources or difficult size targets can produce smaller output dimensions. Check the downloaded file.

Keep the cover focused on recognition

An event cover should help someone recognise the event and its tone. It does not need to reproduce every piece of information in a flyer. A clear photograph or illustration with a concise title is often easier to use than a wide design packed with dates, schedules, sponsors, terms, and tiny contact details.

This page uses our 1920×1005 pixel event-cover export. It is a working preset in this tool, not a claim that every Facebook event surface displays those exact pixels without cropping. Mobile previews, desktop event pages, and shared event cards can frame artwork differently. Keep the title or identifying subject near the central area and test the actual event editor before publishing.

Prepare the design in your editing application first. The compressor does not move a title, add a date, replace a sponsor logo, or create a background around a differently shaped poster. If the original is a tall flyer, make a separate wide design rather than assuming a crop can preserve everything. Keep the editable source, because an event date or venue may change after the first export.

Check the crop before checking the compression

Select the finished source and position the wide crop deliberately. Watch both ends of a long headline and the top and bottom of any portrait in the design. A face or logo that barely fits the exported rectangle may still be vulnerable in another preview. Leave room to reposition the cover in Facebook when that option is available.

  1. Export clean event artwork from the editable design.
  2. Open it with the event-cover preset selected.
  3. Adjust the crop and inspect titles, faces, and logos.
  4. Compare the processed JPEG at phone size as well as a larger view.
  5. Download and test it in the event editor before saving the cover.

If text looks rough, check the source first. A screenshot of an old event cover may already have damaged letters that another export cannot repair. A high quality original design gives you a better starting point. For flat typography, compare an explicit PNG export in Custom mode if useful, but remember that Facebook controls the processing after you upload either format.

Put the event details in the event fields too

Use Facebook's event title, date, time, location, and description fields for the practical information. A cover image is not a dependable substitute: text can be cropped, be difficult to read, or remain visible in an old shared copy after details change. The event fields also make the information easier for people to find and use.

Inspect the event preview on a phone and a larger screen if you can. A desktop cover can look comfortable while the mobile card cuts closer to the centre. If the preview fails, return to the design and adjust the layout rather than repeatedly compressing the same JPEG. Reducing a file does not repair a composition that depends on text at the extreme edge.

Keep a separate image for a Story announcement or a square post promoting the event. Those placements need their own composition, not just a smaller version of the cover. The Story tool and square resizer can prepare those copies from suitable source designs. This page does not create or publish the event. It prepares one image file and leaves the final review, event settings, and publication in your hands. Check the published event after applying the artwork to confirm that the important identifying content is visible.

Questions people ask

Is 1920×1005 an official requirement for every event preview?

No. It is this tool's event export setting. Facebook can frame an event image differently across surfaces, so inspect the real event preview.

Can it rearrange my portrait flyer into a cover?

No. It can crop and resize, but cannot reflow text or move elements. Make a wide source design first if the whole message must remain.

Should the event date appear only in the artwork?

No. Put the practical details in the event's own fields too. Image text may be cropped, hard to read, or retained in an outdated shared copy.
