Prepare a photo set for a Facebook album

Keep portraits and landscapes in their own shapes. Start with JPEG exports fitted inside a 2048×2048 box, then review the individual images before downloading.

Keep the story of the album before reducing it

An album can show more than one kind of view. A landscape establishes the setting, a portrait shows a person, and a detail photograph adds context. Forcing all of them into one crop can remove the reason you selected them. Start by choosing a useful sequence and removing accidental duplicates or unwanted frames before compression.

This page fits each source within our 2048×2048 pixel box, keeping its original proportions. The starting export is JPEG at 90% quality with light edge sharpening and no fixed file-size target. Those are our preparation settings, not a promise about Facebook's stored or displayed files. Each image remains a separate download rather than becoming a combined album file.

Keep a source folder outside your publishing copies. The album export should not replace your camera originals or full edited masters. A family member may later want a print, or an organiser may need a different crop. That request is easier to meet when you still have the original rather than only an image downloaded from a published album. Clear folder names make that distinction practical.

Review different kinds of photographs differently

A shared setting does not make every photo equally easy to encode. Check faces in group photographs, dark texture in indoor scenes, and smooth gradients in skies. A few demanding images deserve closer inspection, but also scan the full set for wrong orientation, accidental screenshots, and a crop that was already present in the source.

  1. Select the original edited photos you intend to include.
  2. Process the set with the starting fit settings.
  3. Compare faces, scenery, and detail on the individual results.
  4. Separate any image that needs a different quality or dimension choice.
  5. Download and review the saved set before adding it to Facebook.

Different file sizes are normal. A dark, noisy interior or dense foliage may need more data than a simple portrait against a plain wall. Do not flatten those differences by chasing one exact size for every file. Compare the detail viewers need, and regenerate special cases from the originals. If the browser struggles with a large set, work in smaller batches rather than treating a stalled page as proof that an image is damaged.

Compress a photo

Organise and check the album after export

Use the filenames and folder order as preparation aids, then inspect the actual image sequence in Facebook. The publishing interface may not preserve the order you expected from your file browser. Check that captions match the right photographs and that similar frames have not been confused. This tool does not create an album, write captions, or upload the selected files.

If some pictures came from different cameras or lighting conditions, match their exposure and colour in your photo editor before compressing. The tool cannot make a warm indoor photograph and a cool outdoor image share a consistent look. That editing decision is separate from reducing dimensions. Keep the final set natural rather than forcing all scenes to look identical.

After publishing, open several album images rather than judging only thumbnails. Confirm that the details you reviewed locally remain useful in the platform view. Facebook controls its own image processing, so there is no export setting here that guarantees unchanged bytes. For a designed square set, use the square post resizer and review each crop. For a shared family group shot, the WhatsApp group photo page explains the separate recipient-oriented check. Keep the album preparation focused on selecting and preserving the photographs people actually want to see.

Questions people ask

Does the tool combine the images into an album file?

No. It exports individual images. Create the album, choose the order, and add captions in Facebook.

Will portraits and landscapes keep their shapes?

Yes. The starting Fit inside settings preserve each source ratio and do not force a common crop.

Why do photos from the same album have different sizes?

Texture, noise, and source dimensions differ. Judge the visible result rather than trying to make every JPEG the same number of kilobytes.
