Convert HEIC photos to JPG when your browser supports them

This converter relies on your device's image decoder. If the HEIC opens here, you can make a JPEG copy locally; unsupported files are not sent to a server.

HEIC decoding depends on the browser and device. Try a compatible Safari device or export a JPEG from your photo app if the file cannot open here.

Check decoding support before starting a large conversion

HEIC files from an iPhone or another camera do not open in every browser environment. This site uses the image decoding available on your device. It does not upload the file to a conversion service and does not include a remote HEIC decoder. Try one photo before selecting a whole collection, especially when working on a computer that has not opened your phone photos before.

If decoding fails, changing the extension to JPG will not help. Open the original in your phone's photo application and export or share a JPEG copy through a supported workflow. You can also try a compatible Safari device. Support can vary with software and the particular file, so a successful conversion on one device does not prove every HEIC will work everywhere. Test the actual source file on the device you plan to use for the remaining photos.

Make a delivery copy without replacing the phone original

When the file opens, the starting settings retain its dimensions and export JPEG at 90% quality with sharpening off. Check the image orientation, skin tones, bright windows and dark areas. The browser-rendered JPEG is a sharing copy, not a complete replacement for every feature or piece of information in the original camera file.

If you are preparing an Instagram post or a website photo, decide on the crop and pixel dimensions after confirming the basic conversion. Retain the original HEIC in your photo library so you can return to your phone editor when needed. A normal JPEG download here does not retain a Live Photo's motion or an editable portrait effect. This converter does not provide HDR mastering, professional color management or a guarantee that every application will render a camera original and its JPEG copy identically.

Finish with the requirements of the receiving app

Download the JPEG and open it before attaching it to a form, sending it to a colleague or publishing it. Confirm the destination accepts the extension and that the picture contains the correct orientation and framing. If a form has a byte limit, set that separately and inspect the result. Do not shrink the image aggressively just because the original HEIC looked unfamiliar in a file manager.

For a batch, group photos by their purpose. A room photograph for a listing may need a landscape crop while a headshot needs a portrait. They can share a JPEG conversion without sharing the same final shape. Work in smaller groups if your phone struggles with many large originals. The existing limits are 50 images per batch and 80 MB per input, but available browser memory still affects what a device can process comfortably. Nothing in the conversion changes the original files.

Test orientation and the parts of a phone photo that matter

Choose a portrait phone photo with a bright window and a recognizable face for the first attempt. After conversion, check that it is upright, the face is visible and the window area looks suitable for the sharing task. Open that exact download in the receiving application rather than only trusting the browser preview. If the rendering does not meet your needs, return to the phone's photo app and make a JPEG there. Do not repeatedly lower quality to solve a decoding or appearance mismatch. A local conversion is useful only when the downloaded still image actually works for the intended recipient.

Questions people ask

Why does the HEIC fail on my browser?

Your browser or device may not decode that file. Try a compatible Safari device or export a JPEG in your photo app. The site does not use an upload decoder.

Will this preserve Live Photo motion?

No. The output is a still JPEG. Keep the original in your photo library if you need motion, editing information or other camera-specific features.

Can I make a HEIC smaller without converting?

This tool exports JPEG, PNG or WebP, not HEIC. Keep the original and create a delivery copy in a format accepted by your destination.
