Photograph what a buyer needs to judge

A listing photo should explain the item you are actually selling. Begin with a clear overall view, then add useful detail views: a model label, an included accessory, a connector, a fabric surface, or a visible condition mark. A large file is not necessarily informative if the item is distant, poorly lit, or partly hidden.

This page starts with our 2048×2048 pixel bounding box, preserving the source ratio, at a 92% JPEG quality setting and light sharpening. Those are our preparation choices, not a claim about Marketplace's requirements or delivered resolution. A wide item remains wide and a tall object remains tall. Check the actual listing editor after downloading.

Use focused source photographs with even enough light to see the relevant surfaces. Complete any basic exposure or background cleanup in an editor before compression, while keeping the item accurate. This tool cannot remove a background, erase damage, change a colour, or create a product render. Avoid edits that make a used item appear to be in a different condition. Compression should make your sharing file practical, not conceal information a buyer needs.

Inspect condition marks and identifying details

Compare the areas that support the listing description. If you mention a scratch, the image should still show it. If a buyer needs a model number, make a close-up from the camera rather than expecting a distant label to become readable through sharpening. Fine texture and lettering deserve a closer view after the export finishes.

  1. Select the original item photograph and keep the no-crop starting settings.
  2. Compare the overall outline and any condition details.
  3. Inspect labels, seams, connectors, and included accessories where relevant.
  4. Lower sharpening if edges look outlined or surface texture becomes harsh.
  5. Download and review the JPEG before adding it to the listing.

If the item is too small inside the frame, crop deliberately in an image editor or choose a closer source. Avoid making every view identical when different angles explain different features. Keep enough surrounding space to identify the object, but remove unrelated clutter before photographing where practical. A clean capture usually helps more than an aggressive compression setting.

Keep the listing and the image set consistent

Name your sharing copies so you can distinguish the overall view, label detail, accessories, and condition close-ups. This helps prevent selecting an older photograph or a similar but different item when adding the listing. Keep the original images separate so you can answer follow-up questions with a new export from the best source.

Put dimensions, model information, included items, and condition in the listing fields as well as the photographs. Tiny text overlaid on an image may be unreadable, and an image alone can leave practical details ambiguous. The compressor does not write or publish a listing, check item eligibility, manage price, or synchronise photos with inventory. You perform those tasks in Facebook.

Inspect the final listing preview and the actual published images. The platform can process or crop the files differently from the local result. If a buyer needs to inspect a particular detail, open the received or published view at a useful size rather than judging its thumbnail. For a customer conversation, create a separate WhatsApp product copy from the original. For a broader group of photos that you want to preserve without fixed crops, the album compressor uses a similar source-ratio workflow with a different review focus.

Questions people ask

Can this remove scratches or hide damage?

No. It does not retouch objects. Keep the listing accurate and use photographs that show the actual item's condition.

Does this publish my Marketplace listing?

No. It exports image files. Add them to the listing yourself and review Facebook's current editor and instructions.

Why is my model number unreadable after export?

The label may be too small or blurred in the source. Take a focused close-up and prepare it separately instead of applying stronger sharpening.
