An artwork image may need to communicate brush texture, paper grain, a delicate pencil line or the scale of a physical piece. Choose the export with those features in mind. A broad composition preview and a close detail view can work better than one oversized image trying to do both jobs. Keep the high-resolution scan or photograph as the master for future reproductions and applications.
First make the capture accurate in your photo or scanning workflow. This tool cannot remove glare, flatten a curled page, correct perspective or match paint colors to a calibrated reference. If an artwork is photographed at an angle or under mixed lighting, reducing the file will retain those problems. Export a corrected master before creating the portfolio copy, and keep the editing project when the image is important to your work.
