A square gives you an even frame for a product, a face, or a compact scene. It is particularly useful when you want several posts to share a consistent shape, but it is not automatically the best choice for every photograph. A wide group photo may lose people, while a tall building may lose its roof or entrance when forced into a square.
Our preset exports 1080×1080 pixels as JPEG. That describes this tool's prepared file, not every Facebook display surface or a requirement for every post. Facebook can show different previews in feeds, albums, and shared contexts. Keep the part that identifies the picture comfortably inside the frame and inspect the publishing preview in the actual account.
Choose the square composition before chasing a smaller file. A clear subject at a sensible size is easier to understand than an image with many tiny competing details. If the crop removes useful context, compare the portrait tool or use a custom fit that preserves the full source. The tool does not add borders or extend the background to make an unsuitable source fill a square.
