Improve the export of a photo you already like

Choose useful dimensions, restrained sharpening and a suitable format. These controls can improve a delivery copy, but they cannot restore missing detail or change exposure.

Define better quality in terms of the actual use

A better photo export is one that looks appropriate where you will show it. For a phone post, that might mean a clear face and a deliberate crop. For a product listing, it might mean legible labels and accurate texture. For an archive, it might mean keeping the original untouched rather than making a smaller sharing file at all.

This page combines resizing, format conversion and adjustable edge sharpening. It is not an AI photo restoration service. There are no exposure, color grading, denoise, background replacement or face reconstruction controls. If the source is too dark, badly focused or damaged, correct what you can in a proper editor or choose a better source first. Do not replace your only original with an export simply because the new file has a higher quality setting or larger dimensions.

Make a measured export rather than raising every setting

The starting point fits a photo inside a 1920 by 1920 box, uses JPEG at 90% quality and applies Light sharpening. That box is an illustrative general sharing size, not an Instagram rule or a promise of the best result for every image. Fit within keeps the proportions and does not enlarge a smaller source. Change the dimensions to match your actual use.

First decide whether cropping is wanted. Then review the resize. Finally compare sharpening Off and Light before adjusting the JPEG quality. Check a meaningful part of the picture, such as an eye, product label or distant building detail. A high quality setting cannot undo earlier compression, and stronger sharpening can make flaws look more severe. Keep each change only if it helps the final display, rather than chasing a dramatic preview.

Judge the final file and keep a route back to the source

Download your candidate and open it in the application that will receive it. Check orientation, framing, visible detail and file size. A social app can process the photo again, so the local export is only one part of the final result. If the image looks different after publishing, compare the actual destination settings and crop before making a harsher local edit.

For text-led graphics, switch to PNG with sharpening off and test readability. For a website photograph, compare WebP and JPEG using the same dimensions. This tool's WebP output is opaque, so keep PNG for transparent overlays. You can prepare several photos locally, but group them by their needs and inspect the difficult examples individually. Save the export beside the source with a clear name. That makes it possible to try a different destination later without repeatedly recompressing or sharpening the same delivery copy.

Try a focused source before trying a damaged one

Use a well-focused daylight photograph as a first test and make a small display copy with sharpening Off. Compare that with Light after the resize. This shows what the export controls actually do without confusing the result with camera blur or poor lighting. Then inspect a difficult night image separately; increasing edge contrast may mainly emphasize its noise. If neither version helps, keep the better source rather than assuming every photo must benefit from an enhancement pass. An honest quality workflow can end with no sharpening, no resize or a different image entirely when those choices suit the destination better.

Questions people ask

Does this use AI to enhance a photo?

No. It uses browser resizing, encoding and an adjustable edge filter. It does not invent detail, restore faces, denoise the photo or correct its exposure.

Can enlarging a small photo improve its real resolution?

An exact-size export can add pixels, but it cannot create the source detail those new pixels would need. Use a larger original whenever possible.

Which setting gives the best quality for Instagram?

Start with the appropriate Instagram size, a good source and light or no sharpening. Inspect the result; there is no single quality number that is best for every photograph.
