Frame the story rather than just the person

A portrait crop can suit a head and shoulders photo, a tall product, or a workplace detail. It is less useful if the meaning depends on a wide group or a piece of equipment that stretches across the scene. Before resizing, decide what the reader should understand from the image and make sure that context survives the vertical frame.

The 1080×1350 preset is our preparation choice for a 4:5 post image. It is not a claim that every LinkedIn image must use those dimensions. Link previews, article covers, and company banners are separate placements, and an image attached directly to a post should be prepared for its own composition.

For event photographs, check people near the sides rather than centring automatically on the speaker. A crop that removes a colleague or half a product can change the meaning of a photograph. Use an original proportion export when the whole scene matters more than filling a tall frame.

Inspect professional details after the resize

Open the source, select the portrait preset, and position the crop. Check badges, product labels, equipment controls, and other small details that may matter to the story. If text in the image carries an instruction or a result, consider placing that information in the post copy as well. A screenshot of a spreadsheet often needs a tighter source capture, not simply a tall crop.

The JPEG preset balances quality with a practical file size. Compare the exported image around faces and smooth backgrounds, where harsh compression is easy to notice. The goal is to retain useful detail, not to reach the smallest number of kilobytes. A clean original usually tolerates reduction better than a file already saved through several social or messaging apps.

Use restrained sharpening after resizing. Fine hair and fabric can look clearer with a little edge contrast, but heavy sharpening can make skin or a whiteboard look rough. A better focused original is the right fix when the source itself is blurred.

Check the draft with all its attachments

Add the downloaded image to your LinkedIn draft and inspect the preview with the actual caption. If the post uses several photographs, check the complete set because the arrangement may differ from a single-image post. Each attachment needs a useful crop, and readers should not have to open every photo to understand the central point.

Use the platform's available alternative text controls to describe meaningful visual information. Keep detailed claims, dates, and contact information in the text of the post rather than relying only on embedded lettering. That also makes the post easier to update if the wording changes later.

Review the public image at normal phone size after publishing. LinkedIn controls its delivered image versions, so a local export cannot promise that the platform will skip further resizing or compression. Keep your original and prepared portrait separately for later reuse. IGCOMPRESSOR handles the local crop, resize, and export; it does not create a carousel document, post to your account, or decide which layout LinkedIn uses for your attachments.

If the photograph shows a work result, keep enough surrounding detail to make its scale and purpose clear. An extreme crop can look dramatic while making the actual improvement harder for readers to understand.

Questions people ask

Is a portrait image the same as a LinkedIn document carousel?

No. This exports a still image for a post. It does not create a multipage PDF or a document carousel.

Can I keep the whole landscape photo?

Switch to Custom and keep the original proportions or use Fit within. An exact portrait shape needs a crop.

Will the portrait preset prevent LinkedIn compression?

No. It prepares a controlled local export, but LinkedIn decides how uploaded images are processed and delivered.
