A profile image is often seen much smaller than the original photograph. A face with a clear expression or a simple brand mark can stay recognisable, while a distant person in a busy scene may become a tiny shape. Choose the source for that small-view job rather than reusing a feed photo without reconsidering the crop.
Our profile preset exports 720×720 pixels as a square JPEG. This is our source preparation size, not a claim that Facebook displays a profile image at that exact resolution everywhere. The interface commonly uses circular views, so the corners of the square should not carry essential parts of the face, logo, or lettering. Inspect the actual crop in Facebook before applying it.
For a person, leave enough room around hair and shoulders to make the crop comfortable. For a logo, use a clean raster export from the brand artwork instead of a screenshot from a website header. Long company names and fine taglines may be difficult to read at profile size. A simpler approved mark can work better, but choosing or redesigning that mark belongs in your design workflow, not in a compressor.
